Penguin is an adorable and precious animal on the earth; however, the number of this specie has sharply kept declining during the last 40 years. In Dee Boersma’s survey, it shows that penguins will go extinct if we still pay no attention to them. First of all, polluting activity by human is the main reason affecting penguin’s natural habitat and living environment. In Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, all the ships dump their wastes directly into the ocean. And the most critical dumping is spilled oil which killed a great amount of penguins and other ocean species. Another factor is climate change in the world, so penguins have less land to inhabit. The temperature goes up. Some lands become deserts. They need appropriate temperature and enough water to live, so the only way to survive is to move to another place. In addition, hard to find food resources is the third reason. When baby penguin is born, the father has to go out to find food for his family; however, the further he swims away from home, the higher risk that he might never come back. Many female penguins give up their babies finally in order to find food by themselves, because they haven’t eaten anything for more than six months. In conclusion, penguins are amazing creatures. People need to do something to protect penguins and other animals.(words:228)

According to this video, I have to say that human activity actually is the reason leading animals into dangerous situation. First, deforestation in every country is for human’s need. Forest is an important ecosystem for animals and plants. Many kinds of animals depend on forests because of the interdependence between animals and plants. With the population explored, we easily occupied the land which is animals’ home, but it is difficult for animals to find a new place to live. In addition, human’s waste is another problem. Like oil dumping shown on the video, it affects penguins, fishes, dolphins, whales, sharks, etc. The ocean is polluted, and large amount of ocean species died. It affects human beings as well, because fishes we eat contain poison. Finally, in some countries, it is encouraged to kill animals. For example, in Canada, millions of seals are killed every year for the beautiful fur, because it is high profits in cloth industry. There is a small town in Japan, where local people catch dolphins and sell them to museums, and use the rest of them as food. To conclude, animals have the equal right as human to live on this planet. They need our protection.
